Prince Carl Fredrik of Sweden is the eldest son and second eldest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden. He was the heir-apparent to the Swedish throne before the absolute primogeniture law came into effect on January 1, 1980. Currently, Carl Philip is second in line to the Swedish throne having been first at birth. He follows his sister Crown Princess Victoria in the line of succession.

Princess Nathalie of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg is the youngest child and second daughter of Richard, 6th Prince of Sayn Wittgenstein berleburg and Princess Benedikte of Denmark.
