As of April 2017, Prince Frederik is seventh-in-line to succeed the Swedish throne after his aunt Crown Princess Victoria, her two children Estelle and Oscar, his father and his older siblings Princess Leona and Prince Wilhelm.
As of April 2017, Prince Frederik is also third-in-line to succeed the headship of the House of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg after his cousin and elder brother.
Birth and Early years Edit
Prince Frederik was born on 15 March 2007 at Karolinska Hospital, Solna, Sweden. He is the third child and second son of Prince Carl Fredrik, Duke of Västerbotten and Princess Nathalie, Duchess of Västerbotten. His father is the elder twin son and second child of Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and Queen Silvia of Sweden and his mother is the younger daughter and youngest child of Richard, 6th Prince of Sayn Wittgenstein berleburg and Queen Silvia of Sweden. The birth was greeted by two 21-gun salutes on the island Skeppsholmen, opposite Stockholm Palace in the capital of Stockholm. His names and titles were announced the following day by his paternal grandfather, Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden at the Cabinet meeting. After the cabinet meeting, A Te Deum thanksgiving service was held in the Palace's Royal Chapel on 16 March 2007 to celebrate his birth in attendance was his father, his elder siblings, his maternal and paternal grandparents, his maternal and paternal aunts and uncles.
Prince Frederik has four siblings, two elder and two younger siblings:

- Prince Gabriel, Duke of Smälland, (born 16 January 2010)
- Prince Louis, Duke of Västmanland, (born 16 January 2010)
On 13 March 2017, two days before Prince Frederik's 10th birthday his maternal grandfather, Prince Richard, 6th Prince of Sayn Wittgenstein berleburg, died suddenly at his home, Berleburg Castle, Germany. He was aged 82 at the time of his death.
Prince Frederik was christened on 15 June 2007 at the Royal Chapel of Stockholm Palace, Sweden.
Prince Frederik's godparents are:
- Princess Madeleine, Duchess of Hälsingland and Gästrikland, his father's younger sister
- Gustav, 7th Prince of Sayn Wittgenstein berleburg, his mother's brother
- Sophie, Countess of Wessex
- Prince Nikolaos of Greece and Denmark, his mother's first cousin
- Princess Märtha Louise of Norway
On 25 August 2009, Prince Frederik started preschool at Äventyret Preschool in Danderyd Municipality, Stockholm. It is also the preschool where his elder siblings attended his cousin, Princess Estelle (who is five years younger) started in August 2014.
On 31 August 2012, The Swedish Royal Court announced that Prince Frederik would be attending, Smedslättsskolan in Bromma which he will attend at junior level in the Summer of 2013. It is the school his father and paternal uncle attended when they were 7 years old, but the Prince started at the age of six.
Royal Duties Edit
Prince Frederik at the time of his birth was fifth-in-line but is now currently seventh-in-line after the birth of his aunt's two children, Princess Estelle (born 2012) and Prince Oscar (born 2016)
Prince Frederik with his family celebrate the birthdays of his paternal grandfather, King Carl XVI Gustaf and his aunt, Crown Princess Victoria, he attends Crown Princess Victoria's birthday concert on 14 July every year which is called Victoriadagen. He also attends Nationaldagen on 6 June every year. He also attends, Royal and Family Weddings, Christenings, Te Deums, Nobel festivities and will attend the Polar prize.
From 18 to 22 January 2017 Prince Frederik with his parents, The Duke and Duchess of Västerbotten and his four siblings, Princess Leona (aged 15), Prince Wilhelm (aged 11) and twins, Prince Gabriel and Prince Louis (aged 7) visited the United States of America for the Inauguration of President-Elect Donald John Trump on 20 January 2017 and the next day on 21 January 2017 they attended the National Prayer Service.
Royal Functions Edit
On 19 June 2009, two-year-old Prince Frederik with his elder brother and sister celebrated the tenth wedding anniversary of his parents' marriage with a church service and an anniversary dinner.
On 17 January 2010, Prince Frederik (aged 2) with his father and elder siblings attended the Te Deum to celebrate the birth of his younger twin brothers. On 18 January 2010, Prince Frederik and his siblings saw their brothers for the first time.
On 1 April 2010, Prince Frederik (aged 3) with his family attended the christening of his twin younger brothers.
On 19 June 2010, Prince Frederik (aged 3) with his parents and elder siblings attended the wedding of his aunt, Crown Princess Victoria to Mr Daniel Westling, later Prince Daniel, Duke of Västergötland.
On 21 August 2010, Prince Frederik with the rest of the Royal Family to celebrate 200 years of the House of Bernadotte being on the throne.
On January 2012, Prince Frederik with his parents and his elder brother and sister celebrated the 40th Jubilee Reign of his mother's aunt, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.
On 24 February 2012, Prince Frederik with his family attended the Te Deum to celebrate the birth of his first cousin, Princess Estelle. She is the only daughter and elder child of his aunt Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel.
On 22 May 2012, Prince Frederik along with his parents, his elder sister and elder brother attended the christening of his first cousin, Princess Estelle, Duchess of Östergötland. His father, Prince Carl Fredrik is Princess Estelle's godfather.
On 16 March 2013, Prince Frederik with his parents, his elder siblings, his grandparents, his paternal aunt's and uncle's and his paternal and maternal great-aunt's attended the funeral of his great-great-aunt by marriage, Princess Lilian, Duchess of Halland. Her funeral was a day after Prince Frederik celebrated his 6th birthday.
On 8 June 2013, Prince Frederik (aged 6) acted as pageboy at the wedding of his paternal aunt and godmother, Princess Madeleine, Duchess of Hälsingland and Gästrikland and Mr Christopher O'Neill.
On 15 September 2013, Prince Frederik (aged 6) with parents, his elder siblings and with the rest of the Swedish Royal Family celebrated the 40th anniversary of his grandfather's succession to the Swedish throne.
On 8 June 2014, Prince Frederik with his parents, his elder siblings attended the christening of his first cousin, Princess Leonore, Duchess of Gotland.
On 13 June 2015, Prince Frederik (aged 8) acted as pageboy while his father, Prince Carl Fredrik was best man at the wedding of his paternal uncle, Prince Carl Philip, Duke of Värmland to Miss Sofia Helqvist, later Princess Sofia, Duchess of Värmland.
On 11 October 2015, Prince Frederik (aged 8) with his parents, his elder sister, his elder brother and his younger brothers attended the christening of his first cousin, Prince Nicolas, Duke of Ångermanland. His father Prince Carl Fredrik is Prince Nicolas's godfather
On 30 April 2016, Prince Frederik (aged 9) joined in with the rest of the Swedish Royal Family to celebrate the 70th birthday of his paternal grandfather, Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. He also celebrated his elder sister's 15th birthday three days earlier.
On 27 May 2016, Prince Frederik with the rest of his family attended the christening of his first cousin, Prince Oscar, Duke of Skåne.
On 9 September 2016, Prince Frederik with his family attended the christening of his youngest cousin, Prince Alexander, Duke of Närke.
