Early Life Edit

Prince Nicolas was born on 15 June 2015 at Danderyds Hospital in Danderyd Municipality, Stockholm. He is the tenth grandchild and sixth grandson of Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and Queen Silvia of Sweden.

Prior to his birth, it was announced that any prospective children of Princess Madeleine would be styled Royal Highness and enter the line of succession. However, in order to be eligible to ascend, Nicolas must be brought up as a member of the Church of Sweden and reside in Sweden during his upbringing. Apart from Swedish citizenship, Prince Nicolas also holds American citizenship through his American-British father

His birth was greeted by a 21-gun salute from Skeppsholmen in Stockholm and from the saluting stations in Gothenburg, Härnösand, Karlskrona and Boden. On 17 June 2015, his names and title were announced at a state council by his grandfather, Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden.

A Te Deum thanksgiving service was held in his honour in the Royal Chapel at Stockholm Palace on 18 June 2015.
